Custom Guitars

TIN-TONE Box-Guitars are a range of innovative Metal-Bodied Resonator Guitars, launched 2009.

Hand-Made from Adapted Antique Tins and Reclaimed Vintage Hardwoods, these were inspired by the ingenuity of the original c.1930s Cigar-Box Guitars which launched the careers of many early blues players. Available Acoustic or Electrified, each one is Unique, and has an evocative and timeless sound all of it's own!

Players include Sonic Youth, Seasick Steve & Deep Purple!

BLACK ROSE ARCHTOPS are a small range of Painstakingly Rebuilt Vintage c.1950s Archtops, introduced in 2004.

These one-off Restored Vintage Beauties have been built using recycled parts from 'written off' handbuilt Archtops, which I have then structurally re-engineered and electrified to rival or surpass classic Vintage Gretsch designs.

Available to try out in person at Macari's  92-94 Charing Cross Road, London WC2H

History

Jon restored (including refinishing & re-fretting!) his first guitar (a butchered 1958 'Selmer Futurama') at the tender age of 13, and has never stopped! This first guitar is now owned by Tom Cullinan... who still pulls it out for occasional Quickspace gigs!

SInce graduating from London Guildhall in 1993, Jon spent 15 years as Performing & Recording Musician, releasing three albums with Penthouse (Beggar's Banquet/Rough Trade Music), and another with Gin Palace (Artrocker). Both bands toured extensively in Europe, America and Australia, and supported bands such as The Fall, Link Wray & The Acemen, Dirty Three, The Kills, Bob Log III and The Gossip

As well as these on-stage performance experiences, Jon has also worked as a Live Sound Engineer at many London Venues (including The Buffalo Bar, The Hope & Anchor and Barden's Boudoir ), giving him an almost unparalleled understanding of what both on-stage musicians and front-of-house or studio engineers need from their equipment

If you have an ailing guitar, bass or indeed any other type of stringed instrument that needs repairing, restoring or customisation, why not give me a call?; I'd be very happy to help, and to share with you the benefit of my experience!
