Neck-Break Restoration
Here's a 1950s Framus Black Rose with a broken neck, which had been the victim of a poor attempt at repair by persons unknown. The neck had been re-glued CROOKED, and IN THE WRONG PLACE and then SECURED WITH A BOLT which was irremovable thanks to being sealed in resin! (see fretboard restoration)
Since the Epoxy Resin could not be dissolved or re-broken, so I had to resort to sawing through the old 'repair'. (Don't try this at home!)
A rather radical procedure, which did fortunately yield two good, clean surfaces to work with.
The neck was regued to the body IN THE RIGHT PLACE (!), and using traditional materials(!) before the joint was smoothed over with filler.
The filler was sanded down to blend in with the contours of the neck-heel, then resprayed!
