ABOUT:
TIN-TONE ~ SONIC FASCINATORS
Tin-Tone produce an ever-evolving line of 'Sonic Fascinators'; Metal-bodied Guitars & Amps of our own unique design, each entirely handbuilt by Jon Free using reclaimed hardwoods and re-purposed antique tins for soundchambers.
Made to meet the exacting standards of the modern-primitive player, Tin-Tone Guitars have been described as "Genius" by artists as diverse as Lydia Lunch and comedian Stewart Lee, "Sick!" by Lee Ranaldo of Sonic Youth, "Beautiful... Quite Magical" by Sterling Smith aka Jandek, and even as "Simply Artistic Genius!" by Ted Crocker, builder of the Honeydripper guitar for the John Sayles film of the same name.
Tin Tone has been the subject of TV features on the BBC and Discovery Channels, and used in performances at London's Tate Gallery, while a mass-performance was centrepiece of an installation at London's Victoria & Albert Museum. Owners/Players include Johnny Depp, Seasick Steve, Sonic Youth, Mick Harvey, Roger Glover, Madness, Heavy Trash, Jandek and Lydia Lunch!
Acoustic or electric, each has an evocative and timeless sound all of it's own!
