BURNS-WEILL (1959) - OTHER BURNS & RELATED (1958-1992)
Dallas-branded models, 1959-1962:
Fenton Weill built various guitars for Dallas; budget two-pickup models with no rhythm/solo switch.
1959 DALLAS Tuxedo
Pickup only by Weill
The first association with Dallas was with the 1959 DALLAS TUXEDO (pickup only by Weill, woodwork by Stu Darkins(?), followed by three known Fenton-Weill-made models:
1961 DALLAS TUXEDO 61
1962 DALLAS TUXEDO 6
1962 DALLAS SOLID 6
1961 DALLAS Tuxedo 61
c.1962 DALLAS Tuxedo 6
c.1962 DALLAS Tuxedo 6
This example refinished in metallic blue
Some such guitars were also sold badged as Fenton-Weills, but never officially appeared in company catalogues.
Here is one such example, finished in red. Located in France, this was perhaps an export-model?
...And a Natural finish version, presumably refinished? Pinholes in the headstock suggest that this once had a Fenton Weill badge?
c.1962 DALLAS Solid 6
Special model no 4440
"Though I personally built many of this model for Fenton Weill in Acton around 62/63 I can't recall a name for it. I believe most went for export which may explain the scarcity of it in the UK. It was for a time the bread and butter model and a good many were made."
